  • Leadership Howard County announces that 48 individuals from a diverse range of Howard County’s business and nonprofit organizations will comprise the Leadership Howard County Class of 2018. The class members were selected for the 10-month program which is designed to empower and connect community leaders and keep them engaged in the critical issues facing Howard County and the region. Financial advisor Amanda Piper, from Wagener-Lee, LLC., is a committed participant in the Leadership Class of 2018.

"We are very pleased with the selection of this year’s Leadership Premier Class,” said Jonathan May, board chair of Leadership Howard County. “As always, they represent a cross-section of the community, bringing an array of perspectives, talents and resources to the class.”

He notes, “The Leadership program will increase their awareness of the issues and challenges facing Howard County and expand their network of contacts throughout the business, nonprofit, and governmental communities, allowing them to take their place and help build a better community. We appreciate these individuals and their respective organizations for making this commitment to Howard County’s future.”

Stacie Hunt, President and CEO of Leadership Howard County adds, "This is a critical time in our community and our world to be actively involved. There are many challenges in communities throughout our country, and the solutions come from the connections we make together. This year’s class will learn the tools to become and stay engaged.”

The Leadership program was launched in 1985 to develop capable, well-informed individuals committed to devoting their time and resources for community improvement. The program addresses countywide issues in monthly, daylong seminars where these concerned citizens meet with established leaders in business, government and community services. Since its inception, more than 1,200 individuals have graduated from the flagship Leadership Premier program, and provide leadership to many of the nonprofit boards and civic organization serving Howard County.

    Block Party Update

On a Friday evening in June, the Wagener-Lee Block Party on the Commons rocked the Clarksville Commons. Blessed with fair weather and the full strawberry moon, about 250 friends joined us to support the roughly 30,000 people in the United States living with Cystic Fibrosis and to raise funds to continue the lifesaving efforts of The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. It is with humble and grateful hearts that we share the news that our little Block Party raised over $30,000 to help make CF stand for Cure Found.

We are grateful to Manor Hill Brewery, Coca Cola Bottling Company Consolidated of MD and the Creig Northrop Team who supplied the liquid libations for the evening. We want to thank You Pizza, Food Plenty and Brian’s Catering who provided delicious food for our guests. We truly appreciate Einstein Brothers for generously donating all of the paper goods. And a special thank you goes to Kupcake and Company and Scoop and Paddle Ice Cream for satisfying everyone’s sweet tooth.

We thank all of our friends and families for supporting us as we support CFF, a cause that is near and dear to us at Wagener-Lee. The CF event webpage will stay up a while longer to accept donations.

It was great to see so many of you at the Block Party. If you couldn’t get there, we missed you and we hope to see you next year.

    Team Wagener-Lee
